Summer at Cedar
Our summer program begins when Cambridge Public Schools conclude their academic year. This pilot summer offering provides ten weeks of play based, child centered care, with a strong focus on outdoor learning and exploration.
Cedar is centrally located near several walkable public parks and green spaces, allowing children to spend extended time outdoors each day. With children’s input, we thoughtfully select open-ended materials and loose parts for our outdoor classroom, encouraging creativity, problem solving, and collaboration.
Each day begins indoors with free play and a morning snack, followed by a long, uninterrupted stretch of outdoor exploration. Children then return to school for lunch, rest time, and an afternoon snack before heading back outside to Cedar Street Park, where the day continues and pick up takes place.
This small, intentionally designed program supports joyful learning, independence, and meaningful connection, giving children the time and space to fully experience summer through play.
